Healthy crop growth depends on matching the greenhouse climate as much as possible to the needs of the plants; a number of climate factors – such as light, temperature, humidity and CO2 – play an important role. In this Master Class you will learn how to incorporate major processes such as photosynthesis, evaporation and uptake of nutrients with your plant growth. Moreover, you will gain insight into the physical principles of the greenhouse climate. All of this combined information will help you improve your climate management and result in an improved growth climate against reduced energy costs.
Who is it for?
Users of a Hoogendoorn process computer wanting to gain more insight into the interaction between plant behaviour and the greenhouse climate. The knowledge you will gain will help you to more effectively conduct climate management and irrigation.
Programme
In this cultivation-focused Master Class, we will approach plant development from the perspective of energy, moisture and assimilation balance. You will learn about how plant irrigation works in relation to the opening and closing of the stomata (pores) on the leaves of plants. At the same time, we will go into how the condition of plants can be measured using plant sensors. The greenhouse climate is approached from the perspective of the physical principles of energy and moisture balance in the greenhouse and the Psychro diagram. You will learn how plants response to the macro and micro climate. Using these new insights and your own practical examples, we will demonstrate how you can best optimise the settings of your Hoogendoorn process computer while at the same time saving on energy costs.
